It's the little things in life.

One night I was walking home from the bus stop after work and I spotted a pretty nifty desk on someone's lawn. It had drawers, and it was slightly smaller than the beast I had at the time. One would assume that meant it was also lighter. Not so my friends, not so.

Frank was home, and I asked if he wanted to help me with a desk down the street.

It was farther away than he thought. He didn't put on shoes.

It was heavier than I thought. I didn't put on enough muscle.

We managed. Then it sat in our back"yard" for a few days. Then another muscular male moved in. Together, they brought the old horrid desk downstairs, and took the "new" one up.

I LOVE it.

I can actually walk BY the desk to go to bed, rather than walk AROUND it (and stub my toes on the metal frame). Yes there is less space on top, but the drawers make up for that lost space. Now all my messy papers and magazines are out of sight! The room looks bigger, and everything looks tidier....except for one corner. But I'm tackling that next. :)

Regarding my inconsistent posting, it's really all I can manage right now. I've been working pretty steadily (my last day off was the 17th) with studying when I can fit it in. The rest of my time is filled with sleeping, and scattered grocery trips. My next day off is the first day of school...and then I might just collapse. So, thank you, for those who are putting up with these random postings. I have much to tell and no time to tell it!

My most exciting news is that I've applied to work at the LUSH cosmetics store in the mall I work in now. Have I told you I hate my job at the tailor?

No?

Well, I hate my job at the tailor. I'm going to stick it out until October, when I'll hear about the LUSH job, but I certainly don't plan on staying any longer than is necessary. My reasons could fill a whole other post, and maybe they will. Until then, send me some positivity to help get me through. :)

So, I shaved my head.

Please don't worry about me.

I didn't have an identity crisis, a meltdown, or gum stuck in my hair.

I donated it to Angel Hair for Kids, and I don't regret it! I actually had many other reasons for doing it besides doing a selfless deed.

Here is my Top 10 List of Why Shaved Heads are Amazing (esp. in the summer!):

10. No hair sticking to your neck and face on humid days. UCK! That is the worst.

9. No more dealing with lost or broken hair elastics/bobby pins right when your bun decides to come apart.

8. Showers are shorter!

7. Relief from tight ponytails and knotty tangles for your poor scalp! Mine has been sore for a several months.

6. Your morning routine is ridiculously short.

5. You look bad-ass. All the time. Even in the girliest dress on Earth.

4. People tell you you're ballsy. That's kind of weird to hear, but nice too! I don't think of myself as ballsy very often.

3. No sweaty sticky mess of hair under your helmet after an hour on a bike!

2. No more shedding all over your house. Seriously, hair everywhere. Frank was not impressed.

1. Everyone rubs your head! That may sound unnerving, but it makes you feel like a good luck charm. :)

Not too bad eh?

I used to have very short hair growing up, so I'm no stranger to this look. Actually, my high school friends are saying things like "there's the Gina I remember!" and my more recently-acquired friends are gobsmacked, but loving it!

It's really quite fortunate that I have a small head.

Anyway, it's been quite cool hearing the comments from my friends and family this week, and if you want to learn more about Angel Hair for Kids, you can visit their website here. I'm making the hair donation part of my fundraising "campaign" for the Run for the Cure, so if you'd like to help sponsor my run/hair donation, shoot me an email at:

CDN20something at gmail dot com

and I'll send you to my donation site!

Finally, this means I can tick off one of my "25 Goals"! I haven't really been doing so well with them, but I do have 4 more months. :)

More posts coming soon I hope! I've been intrigued by Elaine's comment on my last post about doing a make-up tutorial (especially important now that I have to look girlier!). I'm still trying to decide whether I should do a video, or a step-by-step post. We'll see!

Until then,

xoxo Gina
